The overall composition seems effective, with a good use of the feet framing along the top and right, and with the palm tree silhouette acting as a focal point, albeit one that does not dominate the page. The word faith and the music note below it seem to grab more attention than much of the image to me, I think that maybe moving the music note to someplace it contrasts with less (maybe one of the blue areas, or just toning it down a little in that specific area) would help to avoid having it act as a magnet for the viewer's eye. I'm not sure if that's where you want the attention to be, that music note, but it feels like it distracts from the piece as a whole. Your use of overlayed images with a blue sky background brings an interesting feeling of an ethereal picture, not so much a mix of concrete images as of a central idea. This may or may not be intentional but it helps to bring the image together as a whole with the concept of faith. Overall I would say this is an effective piece, but a little bit of tweaking in terms of attention-magnets like the music note would help some to make it seem more unified. -Richard Pallo
The piece turned out well and gives off a relaxed mellow mood with the use of your colors. The dark palm tree weighs heavy on the lower left side of the picture but the white sand gives plenty of contrast to give it a well-balanced picture plane. I would say that this composition is defined by the contrast of the two and makes up the over all theme. Im not sure what the text represents though? Fatih in music or faith in the ocean, or the lifestyle of living at the beach, but maybe that’s what you were going for.
The main thing I like about this piece is that you can really get a sense about your personality when looking at it. It has that kind of scrapbook feel to it and tells us about you. Also the subject matter you chose does a good job of telling us that. There was not a lot to really say other then that.
The main thing I noticed is the foot in the bottom right and how it has some blue on it but then breaks up. I think it is too distracting from the rest of the piece and grabs your eye right away I know it did mine. I mean other then that the rest of your objects are well placed and create a nice sense of movement around the picture plane.
The composition of the piece is very well balanced, with the tree weighing heavy in the bottom right to the feet framing the right side and top corner. I love the treetop and clouds over the sand and water. The positioning of components in this piece plays off two different views. One is from a bird’s eye view as if I am looking down and two I am on the ground looking up into the sky. This overlapping of viewpoints adds a unique aesthetic to this piece. The combination of framing feet and subtle footprints in the sand draws the eye inward into the composition. I love the silhouette of the tree; it works very nicely with this composition. The colors used in this piece give it an overall calm feeling.
A couple things that could use some tweaking are the word faith and the music note. Compared to the other things in the piece, these look like they were just pasted in there. I was also playing with the idea of making the music note a slightly different color than the tree, if it is to be noticed more. Also the feet in the bottom corner and the foot in the top middle I feel should be covered with blue to match the others. It becomes a little distracting when they are brighter than the others.
